“darb el karam” food heritage trail in Montpellier, France
International chefs, tourism professionals, food experts, food producers, farmers and foodies from the 4 corners of the Mediterranean met in Montpellier - South of France, from 27-29 March 2015 to be part of the M.A.D Festival (Meditérrannée à Déguster) to share their experience around the Mediterranean cuisine. On the menu were Master cooking classes, seminars and tasting sessions.
The only participant from Lebanon was the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Zahle (CCIAZ) in the framework of the Lactimed project. On Lactimed stand, dairy producers from 5 countries around the Mediterranean (Lebanon, Egypt, Tunis, Greece and Italy) displayed and offered a wide variety of traditional cheeses and dairy products for tasting. The Food Heritage Foundation, represented by Ms. Mabelle Chedid, was part of the Lebanese group supported by CCIAZ, and promoted "darb el karam" food heritage trail, among European and Mediterranean visitors, highlighting the touristic activities in West Bekaa revolving around traditional goat dairy products such as kishk and Ambarees.
