Souk aal Souk – Farmers’ market celebrated the start of the academic year 2017-2018 with two souks during the month of October, one at the American University of Beirut (AUB) where it has been organized on a monthly basis for the past three years, and one at the American Community School ACS which regularly hosts the souk.
Souk all Souk which gathers a dozen of local food producers, artisans and farmers from around the country, not only supports the producers by building their capacity and introducing them to new markets, but also promotes local and healthy food among universities and school students.
Its educational side aims at putting the farmers in direct contact with the new generation and giving them the opportunity to explain about the source of their products and how these are made. FHF team of dietitians is always available to provide the market’s visitors with tips on healthy nutrition.
The souk occasionally hosts a recycling booth as well as an urban gardening stand offering educational activities to the students.
